After shifting from reverse to d4, I hit the gas pedal, engine revved, but wouldnt accelerate immediately, then I got a severe*****, then i put into d3 for intown driving, and at a red light, put it back to d4 and it was perfectly fine again. No dash lights on...it only seems to happen just after I shift into d4 from reverse

Honda strongly advises against flushing their transmission.

Intermittent problems could be due to to electrical miscommunication due to loose or contaminated wiring contacts or sticking soleanoids. Symptom indicates a possible intermittent fault with the shift solenoids. Get a scan done to see if any trouble codes were stored when problem occurred.

Changing fluids means drain and refill and is all you need to do. Flushing with any equipment is taboo to Honda engineers.

The older models are either equipped with filters or strainers that are maintenance free and requires transmission to be disassembled to replace.

For some newer models, an external filter is installed on top of transmission.
