Occasionally the button on the shifter will not depress and the car cannot be shifted into reverse. It does not happen all the time. This just started a couple of weeks ago.

When this happens, check to see if the brake lights are working. The park lock solenoid gets power from the brake light switch. If the switch is going bad, this can happen.
