Check the oil cooler seal. Mine had similar problem. Could smell oil, never leaked on the ground, used about a quart every 1,000 miles. Ended up being the oil cooler O ring. A $5 dealer part and about 25 min job. Oil was leaking from the oil cooler and dropping down on the exhaust and burning, making the smell and burning up so it never leaked on the ground. Jack it up, start it and see if i's leaking at the oil cooler. Oil cooler is between the engine block and the oil filter. If that's it. Take filter off. Put socket on nut on the tube that the filter screws onto and remove it. I didn't have to remove the coolant hoses. Just pulled it away far enough to get the old o ring out and put the new one in. Hope this is your problem. Let me know how it goes.
