I left the car in the garage for four weeks with a full tank of gas. Attempted to start it but the battery seemed to drag. The battery is new. After several attempts to start it tried to run. Blue smoke came from the exhaust and it soon idled fine. Drove it around today with no problems. Why would the engine flood just sitting for weeks? My guess is it was flooded which I don't know how that happens on fuel injected cars.

Blue smoke is not flooding. That is oil being burnt in in cylinders. How did you know it was due to flooding? I would suspect low fuel pressure.
The weak battery could be the cause of prolonged starting.
