possible causes for car not changing gears

own a vy ss commodore with a 6 speed box. coming home yesterday and suddenly was unable to change gears (can change without clutch when engine not running. clutch and pressure plate are less then 40,000 km's old

Sounds more like a clutch assembly problem

Do you have good pedal pressure? if yes and there is no fluid leaking the box will have to come out and the clutch inspected, this may have a duel mass fly wheel, you will be better off getting a solid fly wheel replacement, this will be better and cheaper.
