2002 Holden Astra Traction Control On Lately S Been Turning Sudden While

I have traction control on my 2002 astra and lately it's been turning on all of a sudden while driving. Road isn't wet or slippery. The emissions indication light also turns on. My car suddenly starts running rough and shakes slightly. Please help what could it be. Don't want to go to the mechanics as they always charge thru the roof.

You will have to get the codes read, so a trip to a mechanic is on the cards, but this should not cost very much, report the exact codes here for assistance.
