I checked the pressure of my refrigerant and the gauge indicated too high. Will this cause my AC to not cool sufficiently?

Should I have some of the refrigerant taken out of the system, or should I take it all out and replace it with the proper amount?

Since we really don't know how much is in the system, it should be evacuated (vacuumed out) and then refilled with the proper amount. Can you tell me the pressure you saw on both the high and low sides?
