my ac is blowing hot air. I am getting a high pressure reading over 80 psi with car off and car running.

should be enough to turn on the compressor. it sounds like you have another issue. i would not add at this time till you find out why the compressor is not turning on

It is a low pressure reading of over 80. sorry about the bad info

you cant do any pressure readings till u get the compressor clutch to engage.turn on the a/c use a test light and check if your getting power to the a/c clutch its a 2 wire connecter on the front of the compressor.start here.
