2002 GMC Safari catilytic converter

installed new catilytic converter and its still spitting and sputtering when you give it gas old converter was stopped up but had no problem before that engine runs smooth while idling converter is installed properly and not leaking exhaust i have not had a tune up in twleve months but have not had any other issues with vehicle until i noticed power loss and the converter was cherry red

Check to make sure the fuel pump pressure is within spec and the regulator is working. You may be dumping fuel into the engine which may have caused the original converter to go bad.
