The windshield wipers have stopped working, motor has been replaced.
When turned on the wipers do not operate, they occasionally wiggle slightly
It appears the problem is in the switch on the column.

My question is can the wipers be wired to a switch separate from the column switch?
I would settle for a single speed.
I am open to other suggestions.

Hi, I'm just talking about the basics. Did you check voltage and ground for the wiper motor before you replaced anything? Check that first, if it is trying to wiggle. The wiper linkages aren't binding? The replacement motor, was it new?

The motor was new but it acted the same as the old one.
I am fairly certain the problem is in the switch on the column.
I want to bypass that switch so I can use the wipers.

The van is not worth a whole lot and to fix the switch is expensive.

I was hoping to find a cheap solution

I understand, but, trying to wire around something might cause more problems than you already have? Like when you turn wipers off, it may park vertical right in your line of sight.

Maybe you can take the new motor back, it seems the motor isn't the problem. Some motors I put on the work bench, use jumper wires for voltage and ground, see if motor reacts properly? There is a Ford module in that circuit, so I'm not sure what you might run into trying to wire a separate switch?
