battery draining I thike

2002 ford winstar, put new battery in, when connecting terminals one headlight came on lights in side came on, motor turned for aminute then clicking sounds lights started blinking then clicking noise under dash on drivers side. Turned of key and removed and the car was still making the clicking sound and lights flickering, had to undo battery before it wound stop. PLease help grandmother in NEED.....

Will the vehicle start and run? Any applicable trouble codes? Some makes and models if battery voltage is lost, it will effect the security system.

Some people use a battery tender plugged into the cigar lighter when they unhook battery, so that the system modules won't loose voltage, the security system to name one. I haven't tried that on your vehicle.
