The vehicle ('02 Taurus SES)trouble light does NOT come on, there is no white smoke (or black) from exhaust pipe at start-up (or any other time) and there is no oil spots when and where I park. Yet I find myself replacing oil (5-20) part synthetic, approx. 1 qt per month. What gives?

If you're not leaking anywhere-could be burning in the cylinders or going thru the PCV system.

Hi, Rasmataz; if the oil was burning in the cylinders, would that not indicate a seal leak, and would there not be clues coming out the tailpipe, as in smoke?

Yup! Blue smoke-Unable to see it stationary/moving-Get an engine compression check this will tell you where its leaking to include a cylinder leakage test
