It's mounted near the tank, under the car.

Not necessarily but you do need a special tool to get the lines off and watch your eyes with the fuel spray.

Where is and how do u change the fuel filter on a 2001 ford mustang gt? Just bought it and want to due some routing maintenance.

REMOVAL WARNING: FUEL SUPPLY LINES ON ALL VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH FUEL INJECTED ENGINES WILL REMAIN PRESSURIZED FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME AFTER ENGINE SHUTDOWN. FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE MUST BE RELIEVED PRIOR TO FUEL SYSTEM SERVICE TO PREVENT POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY OR A FIRE HAZARD. Disconnect the battery. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Raise the vehicle. Disconnect the filter push connect fittings.

where is the fuel filter located?

the fuel filter is mounted in line, it is on the passengers side, below the trunk area, next to the fuel tank.
