2002 Ford Focus steering fluid loss

I filled my steering fluid as it was making a screeching noise.. i filled it to the appropriate line and turned on my engine and after about 15vsecs the fluid was gone again?? I checked the tubes with my hand and they were pretty dry.. any ideas as coming to xmas dont want to oay an arm and a leg to get repaired??

It went down because the when you started the engine, the belt drives the pump. It pumped the fluid down. It is best to leave the vehicle running when filling the fluid and turing the wheel from stop to stop (left to right) till there are no visible bubbles in the fluid. Check around for leaks. The old fluid had to go somewhere.

Sorry ehen i say it was gone in about 15 secs i mean it was on the ground under the car.??

ok...that means you have a leak somewhere. You will need to look all around under the hood or under the car to find the source.
