Knocking at idle

2002 focus has a knocking at idle that seems to get louder while driving. Check engine came on for one day and had a code of po304, cylinder 4 misfire, but went back off the following day. For awhile the knock was intermittant, but now it is constant. Anyone have any idea what would cause this?

Thanks!

The cylinder miss could be many things, plug, coil, injector, low compression. If the knock is in the engine, it could be a rod bearing, main bearing, wrist pin. Make sure the oil is clean and full and I recommend that you allow a mechanic to listen to it to identify where the noise is coming from.

If you have other questions, let me know.

Car runs fine and there is no loss of power. Is it possible that it could be a pulley or belt tensioner?

Thanks!
