My ford focus was having trouble starting in the cold and it killed the battery so I got a boost but during the boost I heard a pop sound and a a smell of a gass and exost came from the engine, when I got my car started it was back firing and it sounded ruff while ideling

Make sure that you have no external fuel leaks at the engine, check all tune related items, check that there are not codes in the ecu, start here.
