2002 Ford Focus brake repair

After following repair procedure it came to our knowledge that the backing plate has been removed we are trying to reassemble but can not rethread bolts can not remove brake drum with parking break disengaged.

let me make sure I understand your position, you couldn't remove the drum so you decided to unbolt the backing plate now with the backing plate unbolted you still cannot remove the drum? is that correct?

I am not sure what you are doing because you can't take the backing plate off without the drum, here is a video that shows how the job is done.
