Starting noise

I have a 52 plate ford fiesta (2002?) Usually starts without much noise, however lastnight when starting it up it made a horrible almost tinny noise, never done this before, any suggestions to problem, gratefully received! Many thanks j x

If the noise only on start up and when the starter engaged check starter and flywheel

Could be starter related. Your saying it only has done it once so far?

Sounds like your starter teeth did not engage flywheel and just spun against it. Pretty bad noise. My van does it occasionally, if it does it too often, replace starter.

A trained tech should tell just from listening
if its a starter couple of hundreds to be replaced
