what would casue the dash not to work and the truck not to stay charged in a Ford F250 2002 ?

As far as the dash, if you are refering to the gauges, check to make sure there are no loose connections under the dash. Also, make sure all fuses under the hood are good. For the battery to die, there must be a constant draw on it or it is just old. Go to our home page under the DIY section and look up how to check for an electrical draw. Follow the directions. If there is a draw, remove one fuse at a time until the draw stops. At that point you will have identified the problem circuit. At that point you need to start checking that circuit for shorts.
