Is it possible to have the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) re-manufactured or rebuilt and re-installed or is that something that is either not possible or recommended? If it is possible where would I be able to send mine to get it re-worked by someone that is qualified to take on that kind of task?

This can be done, normally anyone that specialises in fuel injection systems will have the contacts to get this done, i would look there first,
