electrical systems not working

I own a 2002 Ford Escape. Twice now I have been driving and my clock, wipers, & windows will quit working. the vehicle will also begin to run poorly to the point it quits. the vehicle exhaust smells different as well.

i would start with checking the alternator output and the battery.

beyond that, i would look at fuel pressure and engine control systems.

start with the basics first.
