2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Drove 10 Blocks Sputtering Way Engine Light Came On Drove

Have a Dodge Ram 1500...drove it 10 blocks and it was sputtering all the way, then engine light came on. Drove it straight home and checked oil level which was fine but engine and even dip stick were blazing hot....any ideas? Thank you.... I have no idea
