I'm replacing the drivers side half shaft on my 2002 dodge neon. The dodge manual says "separate ball joint stud from steering knuckle by prying down on lower control arm." It doesn't mention anything about the torsion bar on the control arm. How do I overcome and/or release the upward pressure in order to remove the cv axle from the wheel hub?

You have to break loose the ball joint first then you can pry the lower control down to clear the knuckle so you can get the axle out of the hub. They even sell a tool to break loose the ball joint.

Ain't no torsion bar. You have a coil spring on the strut. The most common mistake is supporting the car with a jack stand under the lower control arm. Move it to the frame or cross member then use a long pry bar from the frame over the control arm to pry it down.
