2002 dodge intrepid heating problems while the car is completely warmed up at idle with heat on it blows cold air as soon as I rev it up it blows warm air. Driving down the road heat works fine come to a stop light it blows cold air. Any ideas? Thanks Mike by the way how do you make a donation?

The coolant is probably low. The heater core is the highest part of the cooling system. If the coolant is low there won't be any coolant in the heater core. By reving the engine or at a higher rpm when driving, the coolant is moving around the engine quicker and pushes some of the coolant into the core, giving you some heat. The other possibility is a water pump that is going bad. It will not circulate the coolant very well since the impeller usually gets damaged as the pump goes bad.

Also that intrepid has the radiator below the engine, make sure you open the bleeder at the thermostat housing and get the air out while you are filling the coolant
