2002 dodge dakota automatic gear shift hard to get out of park

it would be hard to shift out of park only in cold weather or if truck was damp from rain now it does it almost everytime i want to shift out of park

Disconnect the linkage at the transmission and see if the difficulty persists. If not, the park safety lock is your problem and needs to be looked at.

Its also called the shift interlock control solenoid-also check brake lights if its working properly-
