when cold trans shifts normal . warmed up after stop will not shift out of first.

Sticking in second gear is "limp mode" that allows you to drive slowly to a repair shop without needing a tow truck. There will be a diagnostic fault code in the Transmission Computer. Have that code read. It will indicate the circuit or system that needs further diagnosis.
