trouble starting

when the engine is cold or has not been on for over an hour I have to turn the key two or three times before the engine turn over. this just started happen within the past month, never had this problem before. also when the engine finally turn over i smell gas. every machanic i've taken my car to can't tell me what the problem is.

IT sounds like the fuel pressure is bleeding off. Go to our homepage under the DIY section and find how to check fuel pump pressure. Follow the directions and then pay attention to fuel pump drop off. That is when you shut the key and the pump stops. It should maintain pressure. If the system drops quickly, either you have a bad pump or there is a leak in the system.
