We were Driving down the highway and it was about 80 degrees out and it seemed like every time we revved the engine the A/C would go out, then come back on about 2 minuets later. we are out of town and are driving back after tomorrow and really hope this is a easy fix, We read it was the air compressor and it needs to be replaced. We are going to do that when we get home. But is there any way we can keep it working for the 7 hour car ride back home in the intense heat.

THIS IS NOT YOUR VEHICLE

YOUR COMPRESSOR AND CLUTCH WORK SIMILAR

WITHOUT GETTING TANGLED UP IN MOVING PARTS---SEE IF YOU CAN SEE THE "CENTER" PORTION OF YOURS

WITH THE A/C ON---THE CENTER PORTION SHOULD TURN ALL OF THE TIME (THIS IS THE CLUTCH ENGAGED---IT TURNS THE COMPRESSOR)

WITH THE A/C OFF---THE OUTER PULLEY WILL TURN, BUT THE CENTER PORTION WILL NOT....THE COMPRESSOR IS NOT TURNING EITHER....JUST THE PULLEY!

BAD STUFF: PULLEY DOES NOT TURN--COMPRESSOR IS LOCKED UP OR THE PULLEY BEARINGS ARE LOCKED UP....HAD TO THROW IN WORST CASE!

IF ALL IS TURNING FINE------BUT THE INNER PART (CLUTCH) IS CYCLING OFF AND ON.......YOU MAY BE LOW ON GAS (FREON...R-134 ALL THE SAME)

NO BIGGIE---YOU CAN DO THIS YOURSELF, IF YOU ARE NOT.......SKIP THAT!

----------FOLLOW DIRECTIONS!!!!!------

THIS IS AVAILABLE AT ADVANCE AUTO---IT HAS A GAUGE! (YOU NEED THE ONE WITH A GAUGE!)---THE TOP ON TOP OF THE CAN, CAN BE REUSED OVER AND OVER!

THERE IS A VIDEO RIGHT BELOW THE PRODUCT IN THIS LINK! WATCH AND DO!!!!

I HOPE THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM AND IS THIS EZ TO FIX

THE EMPLOYEES MAY ASSIST IN FINDING THE CORRECT PORT...AT OUR STORE WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO INSTALL IT, JUST ASSIST

IT WAS 107 DEGREES IN WESTERN SC YESTERDAY

I HAD MY '46 WILLYS JEEP ("WILLY") IN THE "FULL A/C MODE" (SEE PIC BELOW)---IT WAS LIKE DRIVING IN A BLAST FURNACE ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK AT 1400 HRS

LET ME KNOW HOW IT GOES

It could be a failing clutch and that is not really that easy to fix.
