I am not familiar with this vehicle, but I do find it odd that you need to remove the door panel to access the light. Are you sure there are no screws holding the lens on? As far as the door panel, most have a few screws and plastic clips that hold the panel on, Once the screws are removed, the clips pop out of the door.
