I have a 2002 Chevy suburban 5.4 V-8 with a factory tow package and this past weekend my brake lights would not go off unless I disconnected the battery so I replaced the stop lamp brake switch on the pedal and it still will not go off I thought that would fix it seeing as my cruise control does not work anymore but did the day before the lights stayed on any suggestions on something else to try

Brake lights staying on would disable the cruise control. That would be expected.

Double check your brake light switch that it is adjusted correctly and the switch is actually operating when the pedal is depressed.
