I have a 2002 5.3L chevy. Replaced the battery, starter, ignition relay, starter relay, and cables. If you drive the truck it runs fine. When you stop and shut it off you will not be able to start again the starter just clicks. if you remove the battery cables and wait a few minutes the truck will start. interesting enough all the presets stay the same when theyt should be erased when the battery is disconnected. Please help.

I'd have to check voltage reading at the starter itself, when problem is ongoing. Make sure the tranny is in park or neutral and a functional e-brake is set.

The purple wire at the starter solenoid S terminal, should be hot, with key in the crank position, check when problem is ongoing. Also check starter field terminal voltage, the wire that goes from solenoid down into the starter body.
