Four wheel drive front axle fails to engage?

The front axle fails to engage. Last time four wheel worked the dash indicator(4wd) did not turn off when the floor shifter was disengaged. Now when floor shifter is engaged the drive line locks in but diff. Does not and dash light does not come on

See if encoder motor on tcase is getting power when it's shifted if it is then it's probably bad

Yep, the front differential actuator go out on these trucks, here is the location so you can change it out which should fix the problem. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
