2002 Chevrolet S-10 I cant shift to park

I cant shift to park, but I can easily click in park from underneath. I did not see any way to make an adjustment. Is there a tension spring or internal adjustment. Because the cable pushes the shift lever at the trans , cable wear should not be an issue. Thanks, Any information as what I should check will be helpful

check cable for proper adjustment otherwise the cable may be bad or broken at shifter end. seepics
