Chevy s 10 rear diff

When truck is in gear the drive shaft turns but the wheels do not when I pulled the drive shaft the area it mounts to the rear diff is very lose and turns is this something I can fix or should I take to a shop

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A RING AND PINION ISSUE. DEPENDING ON YOUR EXPERIENCE LEVEL, YOU CAN REPLACE THE REAR END WITH A USED PART OR REBUILD YOURS. IF YOU HAVE DOUBTS ABOUT IT, I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND A GOOD TRANSMISSION SHOP. WITH A GOOD REPAIR MANUAL, I THINK YOU CAN DO IT.

Take it to a shop. Either the ring gear is broken, pinion shaft, or both.
