My daughter drives a chevy impala. When she presses the accelerator there is a roaring sound that comes from the engine as the car picks up speedroaring noise as car accelerates.

There are many things that can cause a noise like that. Start out checking the power steering fluid level and then try to isolate the source of the noise.

fluids are fine. I wanted to add some additional information on the vehicle - it's an 02 Impala with a V6-3.8L VIN K will try to find a more specific area for the noise

Then that points to a bad fan clutch or transmission that is not shifting.
