You're stuck with the dealer on this one. GM has designed in a lot of tricks to force you to go back to the dealer. They stopped allowing us to buy radio service manuals back in '94 so you're tied to their two grossly-over-priced repair centers.
What I would try first is to find a similar amp in a pick-your-own-parts salvage yard, and plug it in to try it. There shouldn't be any need to have software programmed in by the dealer to match your car's VIN number, ... Yet. That's another trick they dreamed up a couple of years later.
