Can't turn the key on/off, to make the car start. It's blocked, so I have to change the ignition cylinder.
Is it necessary to disconnect the battery, air bag and horn first? My mechanic told me I can't do it that easy because the computer of the car won't recognize the new cylinder, so I need a specialist to reconnect the cylinder with all the system.
Watching on youtube it seems so easy, no disconnecting the battery, horn or airbag. It seems like I only have to deal with a few screws and replace the cylinder, very easy.
What's the [procedure, considering my Chevy Express is from 2002, so not a very sophisticated car.

I would disconnect the battery because this will disable the air bag system. This is a safety precaution and prevent accidentally deploying the air bag. I would disconnected the battery & follow the video just make sure what your seeing is exactly on the video. There is usually a ring around the ignition lock cylinder so make you don't damage that as it will prevent starting the engine.
