2002 cavalier LS Sport Speedometer Issues

I have a 2002 Chevy Cavalier ls Sport. When the car sits in direct sunlight the speedometer will not work correctly. It will peg out in time. Then when I shut the car off and keep turning the key It will go back to zero eventually. What is wrong and is this an easy fix????
