Do you think it is wise to open up a franchised transmission repair store? especially with cars now having such long power train warranty and better technology.

Transmission work will keep you in business. Warranties might be longer but transmissions used to commonly last the life of the car, about 150,000 miles. Today car cars easily last well over 200,000 and it's common to go through three transmission.
