It started making a noise not really loud when I would accelerate. Now as soon as I start my car it makes a terrible noise like I described. It has gotten worse I would say. I am not driving it now. If it is a bad rod bearing how much would it be as an estimate to fix it

might be cheaper to get a used motor. to fix, whole engine has to come apart. if it's a rod you should show a loss of some oil pressure.

So I would have to buy a whole new engine. I might as well buy a used car. That really sucks I don't have the money to buy anew engine and pay someone to put it in.

over the internet it's only my opinion based on your descriptions. i'm not there to hear it. you should seek an opinion from a mechanic who can hear the noise.
