Brake light failure

2002 chevy cavalier. brake light fuses keep blowing even after replacing the brake light switch. What could be the reason for this? we also replaced a few seemingly melted portions of wires near the brake switch.

If the fuse blows only when brake pedal is depresed, the problem would most likely lie near the brake bulbs or the wiring between the brake switch and bulbs.

Brake switch seldom results in shortings.
