My car would not start today until I filled the tank. It showed that I stioll had almost 70 miles to go before I ran out of gas and the gas light was not on. Also - sometimes when I try to pump the gas the pump shuts off and the gas pours out of my tank (& it's not even close to being full)

is CEL on? your vent system may be plugged and your canister may be full of gas. this occurs when people overfill their tanks.

As far as the truck running out of fuel with the gauge reading still up. When it is low on fuel remove the pump and see how much fuel is in the tank . And make shore the fuel pick up is in the right spot. Something might be broken and not allowing the fump to feed of the bottom of the tank and something may be blocking the filler hose.
