2002 blazer 4x4 gas mileage went from 24 mph to 16mph what could it be? The fuel tank pressure canaster is bad but was told that wouldn't affect my mpg.

No such thing as "Fuel Tank Pressure Canister". What you refer to is an emissions devise (Vapor canister). When was your last tune-up? If it's been a long time, start with that.

You can try some throttle body cleaner. Sometimes a air hole inside the throttle body will get clogged with carbon causing reduced gas milage. Throttle body cleaner will help clean the carbon off.
