can a leaking vacuum pump result in idle surge on the 318i n42 engine?

oil is leaking from the vacuum pump onto the plate over the exhaust manifold. checks made for vacuum leaks (intake, oil separator and hoses), none found.

I would be thinking you may have a problem with the idle control system, have you tried scanning for any unresolved faults codes as yet?
