Temperature gauge

my temperature gauge would go from cold to hot. it will do this while you were driving. I changed the temperature sensor out and now the gauge does not work. Is there another sensor? I cannot see the gauge being bad, it would go from cold to hot. Thank you.

Did you change the one by the thermostat or the cylinder head? the one on the left cylinder head controls the gauge unit.

i changed the one by the cylinder head.

Okay

Remove the wire from the sensor and see what the gauge does.
then ground the wire and see what it does.
