Engine dies after a few seconds

Audi a4, 2002 diesel, engine starts then dies after a few seconds, no warning lights. Battery ok, fuel in, replaced battery in ignition key. Running ok 3 weeks ago, been on holiday, came to start it today. Any advice would be appreciated thank you. No warning lights. Battery fine, fuel - full, and have replaced battery in the ignition key. Any advice will be much appreciated please. Kind regards, Yvonne

Check fuel pump pressure. Make sure there is no water in the fuel.

Just to let you know it was the immobilizer not recognising the key, who knows why.
