I have a 2001 Volvo and the passenger side windshield wiper blade is flopping off the window as it hits the bottom. How do I adjust the play in the arm connection to the motor?

Look at the pivot for a plastic cap that can be unsnapped and lifted up. You should see a nut that is loose. Push the arm to its correct position, then tighten that nut.

I already removed the plastic piece and removed the nut but the wiper blade will not move on the stem at all and I can't seem to get it off and am reluctant to really force it. It seems to be loose beneath where the motor is housed. Any further ideas?

There is a lever underneath but if it is loose it will cause the wiper arm to not go far enough either way. If this has been a problem for a long time, suspect the arm was installed in the wrong position such as after a windshield replacement.
