is a cars fuel pump its fuel injector

The fuel pump and the injectors are separate items, the pump pumps the fuel from the tank to the injectors which deliver ther fuel to each cylinder, petrol and diesel are different systems, but work pretty much the same.

ok...thanks for that info...just financed a 2001 vw cabrio...62000 miles engine light on already...the machine printout at autozone says failed fuel injector...under a warranty that covers a fuel pump does that cover the fuel injectors also

I would say not, as most policies are fairly specific, but a phone call to the insurer will tell you, they should have a help line on the policy.
