when you turn the key on no lights anything on the dash comes on. The engine will crank but dies in about a second

If no lights (oil light, alternator light, Check Engine light) come on when you turn the key to the ON position, then your instrument cluster
is not powering up from the Ignition ON circuit.

The reason the engine "dies", is because you stopped cranking.

If the engine actually "ran for a second" (Ignition Spark and fuel Injector pulse), then you would have a Check engine light that comes ON when the
key is turned ON.

You need to check a wiring diagram to see which fuse supplies power to the Ignition #15 circuit as well as the Instrument Cluster.
