Water leaks between gearbox and engine from vw jetta 4

This is usually a plastic coolant flange problem. It is mounted to the side of the cylinder
head. The o-ring seal or the plastic flange deteriorate and the leak runs down the head &
block, then runs down the mating surface of the block & transmission.
